BRITISH RED CROSS

BRITISH RED CROSS

Pour a cup of kindness for people in crisis and hold a tea party to make a difference.

The Red Cross Tea Party is the perfect way to catch up with your friends over a cuppa and a scrumptious slice of cake- all the while raising money for our life- saving work here in the UK and abroad.

Hosting your Red Cross Tea Party couldn’t be easier.

All you need to do is pick a venue, invite your friends and stock up on tea and delicious treats. Help bring your community together on the 21st of April for National Tea Day and join the thousands already supporting our work.

Right now in your community there are people  affected by loneliness, a career impacting injury or struggling to return to normality after a long stay in hospital, while abroad people are affected by the same social care issues. The money you raise will help us to be there for these people in crisis, whoever and wherever they are.

  • £100 could provide a wheelchair for 10 people for a week.
  • £200 could provide one person with the vital support they need to recover from a fall, disability or illness.
  • £600 could help 3 people re-adjust to life at home following a spell in hospital, through visits and phone calls.

Just register here for your free Tea Party pack, which will tell you everything you need to make your cuppa count. It’s a piece of cake.

Could you show some HumaniTea for people in crisis?

Who knew enjoying a cup of tea with friends could help save lives? HumaniTea is a fun and easy to organize tea party in aid of the British Red Cross.

You could hold a HumaniTea party in your home with your closest friends, at work with your colleagues, within a residential home, or event at a club or society you are part of.

Simply start by deciding where, when and who to invite. On the day just make sure you have enough tea, coffee and scrumptious treats to keep everybody full and happy. And don’t forget to ask your guests to kindly make a donation to join in the fun.

A good cause
Every week Red Cross staff and volunteers visit hundreds of people in the UK who have recently been discharged from hospital. They help them regain their confidence to live independently once again. The everyday tasks they carry out from making cups of tea to collecting prescriptions may seem small- but they carry enormous significance for the people they’re helping.

The money you raise from your HumaniTea will help us to continue to supporting people in ways just like this.

Herbal Tea Blending Masterclass at Sutton House

Back in 2015, Hackney Herbal set out on a mission to show people how to incorporate herbs into their lifestyles, for health and improved wellbeing.

We now grow herbs in a patchwork of sites around Hackney creating unique herbal tea blends. These are sold to raise funds for our community activities supporting people to improve their mental health and wellbeing. This includes wellbeing gardening courses, social gatherings and volunteering opportunities where local people can come together, learn and be inspired.

For National Tea Day we have organised a special Herbal Tea Blending workshop at Sutton House to help raise funds for our Community Herb Group.

How you are helping

Did you know that in the next 15 minutes, someone in the UK will be told: “You are losing your sight”?

Jacqueline from Hove, who had lost her sight to glaucoma a few years ago said: “I realised my eye sight wasn’t getting any better but the diagnosis took the wind out of my sails. You go through all these emotions with the loss of something.”

“I owe a debt to RNIB for their wonderful advice and support – both emotionally and financially. They have been a tower of strength for me. I never realised you could be blind and looked after so well.”
